ChatChecker is a Chrome side-panel developer tool for importing, inspecting and replaying conversation JSON through an OpenAI-compatible API selected by the user. This policy applies only to ChatChecker.

  1. Information processed

ChatChecker processes conversation JSON voluntarily pasted by the user or imported after the user clicks the import button on the supported source page. It also processes API Base URLs, API keys, model IDs, profile names, request parameters and API responses. Follow-up user messages and generated assistant replies are appended to the in-memory conversation and included in subsequent requests only when the user asks to generate again. Conversations and imported page content may contain personal information. Data is used only to inspect requests, validate API connections, replay selected conversations and display results.

  1. Local storage and retention

API profiles and parameters are stored in Chrome storage.local on the user's device, without Chrome Sync. API keys remain in panel memory by default. A key is saved persistently only if the user explicitly selects “remember Key”; this local storage is not encrypted. Deleting a saved profile removes its stored key.

Manually pasted conversations and API responses remain in the current panel's memory. Closing or refreshing the panel discards them. The most recent user-requested page import is temporarily held in Chrome storage.session so it can be delivered when the side panel opens. It is not written to persistent storage and is cleared when the browser restarts or the extension is disabled, reloaded, updated or removed. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage.

  1. API requests and third parties

ChatChecker has no developer-operated collection or relay server. Clicking “validate and save” sends the configured key, model ID and a standalone short test message directly to the API endpoint chosen by the user. Clicking “retry” sends the selected conversation and request parameters directly to that endpoint, authenticated by the user's API key. The extension developer does not receive the key, conversation or response.

The selected API provider may log, process or retain requests under its own privacy policy. API calls may incur provider charges. Users should send only content they are authorized to process. External APIs use HTTPS; local development on localhost or 127.0.0.1 may use HTTP. Stopping a request does not necessarily stop provider-side processing.

  1. Permissions and page integration

The sidePanel permission hosts the editor, configuration and results. The storage permission supports the local and session storage described above. Optional host access is requested for the specific API origin the user enters, only when validating or replaying a request.

Scripts on a supported source page add an optional JSON import button. Only after the user clicks that button does the extension invoke the page's existing Copy JSON handler and capture its exported JSON for the side panel. Importing does not automatically send the conversation to an API. No import script runs on unrelated sites. The extension does not read browsing history or cookies, and does not monitor general browsing activity. It does not automatically read the system clipboard; it writes a response only when the user clicks the copy-response button.

  1. Limited Use

ChatChecker's use of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only for the single user-facing purpose described above. The developer does not sell user data, use it for advertising or profiling, transfer it for unrelated purposes, or use it for creditworthiness or lending decisions. The extension contains no analytics or telemetry. The developer does not review conversation content.

  1. User controls and deletion

Users may clear panel input, close the panel, delete saved API profiles, revoke an API origin's access in Chrome's extension settings, or uninstall the extension. Data already sent to an API provider is subject to that provider's retention and deletion process.

  1. Changes and contact

Material changes will be reflected in this policy and the extension's store disclosures. For privacy or support questions, contact publisher vinechen through the developer contact or support details on the ChatChecker Chrome Web Store listing:
